A lot of people go without efficient heating and cooling in their apartments because they have been told it is to difficult to have it installed especially in older style apartments.

In many cases clients can be limited to exact locations due to the layout of the apartment and the balcony set up.

This installation was a high efficiency Mitsubishi split system to supercede an old box style AC which are old, inefficient and noisy. The indoor unit was located right next to the door to the balcony which allowed us to drill into the brick cavity and run the pipework through it to the external wall of the balcony. The old unit was left in place for the client to have removed at a later date at their leisure.

The duct was then run down and across to the other side of the balcony keeping it as far away as possible from impeding access onto the balcony. Some people choose to build some kind of bench over the top of the unit making sure there is still plenty of ventilation around the ac to be able to put BBQ’s or plants on top giving them some use of the area that has been lost.

Being a double brick building, the only way to run the electrical supply to the switchboard is to run internal ducting. As you can see in the photos below it is run in the corner where the wall meets the roof to try to minimise the aesthetics. It can be painted to further disguise it.
